The Effects of "Ojayeonjonghwan" on the Secretion of Sex hormones and the Antifatigue in Rats

Abstract

|
Five groups of rats(12 rats in each group)-Sample A, Sample B, Sample C, Sample D and the control-were used in this experiment to study about the Effects of ¡°Ojayeonjonghwan¡± on the secretion of sex hormones and the antifatigue. ¡°Ojayeonjonghwan¡± was administered in the way to the rats if Sample A 4.4§·/2§¢ per 200g of rat¡¯s body weight every day for 35 days; to the rats of Sample B the doubled amount 8.8§·/2§¢, and Sample C 4.4§·/2§¢ per 200g of rat¡¯s weight every day for 35 days; to the rats of Sample D the doubled amount 8.8§·/2§¢, and the control groups were just fed with the equal amount of saline solution. These groups were just fed with the equal amount of saline solution. These groups were tested for the levels of sex hormones such as testosterone. esradiol, FSH, LH three times on the 7th, 14th and 35th day. Additionally, they were examined in swimming time through the compulsory swimming method.
The results from the experiment are as follows:
1. The content of testosterone in the serum showed a significant increase in Sample B and Sample D in comparison to the control. The increase was getting evident as the days elapsed, however, the increase in Sample B and Sample D which was given doubled amount of ¡°Ojayeonjonghwan¡± was quite notable rather than Sample A and Sample C which was given general amount.
